|
|
Hi
I saw HCT are asking for teachers for a new site in Madinat Zayed ( this link: http://recruit.hct.ac.ae/job_details.asp?job_seq=8206 ). Can anyone help with a couple of questions...
1. Is Madinat Zayed completely out in the middle of nowhere with not much going on?
2. If I have school age kids is it out of the question to find international education out there?
3. How come HCT are advertising so late if they mean to start in September?
thanks a lot in advance for any ideas |

Actually Afra answered some of these questions on another thread in the General ME section, so I will pass the information on.
Yes... it is in pretty much the middle of nowhere. No, there are no international schools - though the Emirates government is saying that your kids could attend the government schools... but I don't expect many would be interested in that option - unless one is Muslim and their children are bilingual in Arabic and English.
It is advertising late because as commonly happens, the government dragged their feet on the decision for ages... then suddenly decided that it should start... tomorrow.
Ahlan wa Sahlan to the Gulf!!
I'd say that it will only be appropriate for singles or couples with no kids who want a VERY quiet life. There are some who enjoy the challenge of these start-ups. BTW... it will be Men's College only this year according to the HCT website, but that doesn't exclude women teachers.

Actually, although the location is given as Madinat Zayed Men's College, it is my understanding that there will be both men's and women's classes. |

According to figures published last week, about 70 men and 120 women are registered to start in September. |
