I have a ESL certificate and high school diploma, is there any chance for me to be able to work in Japan as a esl Teacher?

(even with a holiday work visa)

Yes. Yours is a fairly common story, so here is the fairly common reply in a nutshell.

You're Canadian by your profile. You can get a working holiday visa if you fit the conditions required, so you can stay 12 months.

What sort of jobs you find will depend on your age, what time of year you come, where you look, how you interview, what you are willing to accept, and who you talk to.

I wouldn't expect anything more than entry level work, even with an ESL certificate, but you might get lucky.

Can I ask your age? This may also play a big factor.

Hi akm4, how are you?

Lots of people with working holiday visas work for NOVA. Maybe you can contact them. Some people don't like NOVA but some peolpe do so you might like it. Cool You can also get private students and you can usually get them for abput 3000 yen an hour. It takes a loooooong time to get a good number though so it is a bit tricky. Shocked Good luck young sir or siress! Very Happy

I believe NOVA takes WHV holders but only if they have had a year of university studies.
