More on certification...
Has anyone here gotten their ESL certification (of whatever flavor) in Japan? I have found a couple of companies that offer the face to face certification (in Kobe and Kyoto), and was wondering how good their classes are. |

Hiya... I got my certification in the States, in Boston, but the same school also has a campus in Kyoto. The course is a little spendy, but quite good, and you end up with the school's certification and also the CELTA, which never hurts. The school in question is the School for International Training (SIT), and you should be able to dig them up with few problems on google. |

Thanks. yeah, that's one of the programs I found online.
So were you able to find employment? How long did it take you from finishing the course to being at your first job? |

Actually, I'm currently engaged in the Great Job Hunt. After taking the class, I went back to work at my previous job until the season was over, then came over here. I'm in Kyoto right now, and have successfully landed an apartment, which is a start... The job thing is coming along, though. It would be much easier if I didn't have problems with going to Nova for the visa and then quitting, but I"m kinda principled that way... There's heaps of p/t stuff available, so if you've got the opportunity for a WHV, that'd be easy.
Anyway, best of luck.
