What's the best credit card to have for living in Japan? I'm basicly looking for one that's accepted in a lot of places and one that will hopefully give me a good deal on air miles for plane tickets. Thank you.

You're gonna hafta help me out with the search engine, then. As far as I can tell, you can't use the search engine on this site to search for more than one word together by putting them in quotes like you normally can. If I go to the search engine and type in "credit card", I'll get a bunch of posts featuring the word 'credit' mixed in with a bunch of posts containing the word 'card'. It's useless to try to look up more than one word together.

Yeah, that IS an annoying thing about the search function here -- you can't search exact quotes. BUT you CAN select search all words instead of just one OR the other... I would recommend the following:

Search keywords:

credit card visa

(o) Search for all terms

Forum: Japan

All other options: default


If you leave in the word "visa" you get 37 hits -- if you leave it out, you get 146. Either way, the posts which Rolling Stone referred to DO come up that way, although not necessarily in a neat, tidy order.

Thanks for the suggestion. I found what I was looking for. Looks like it's a VISA for me.
