I'm new to all this forum stuff and just got back to Istanbul after a while away. Have been looking around for schools to work in and have heard a fair amount about some of them... does anyone know anything about British Side though? I can't seem to find any info on them anywhere. I noticed their sign up on what I think was the old British Council building in Beşiktaş...
Thanks |

some ex-BC employees have got together to open a new school with classes starting around the third week of September 2006
there should be a number of ex-BC staff and teachers working there...see the ad posted on the joblist |

You will be charging British Council rates but without the British Council name. |

The BC resources went to Bilgi Univ and apparently only Bilgi people can check them out. |

I am shocked that your place wasn't interested in them. |

I have been in for an interview at British Side and they seem pretty kosher- trying to keep the professionalism in teaching, and the pay does sound good... certainly the best i've heard of so far. Personally i don't see the problem in charging high course fees (as thrifty pointed out) if they're prepared to pay their teachers well. Take a walk round any of the 'posh' shopping malls- the money is there. Just hope i can get some of it in my pocket . Oh, and apparently they are interviewing old british council teachers too so i don't know where the nepotism point comes into it. |
