I really need to find some things to decorate my classroom with. Is there a teacher store in HK? Or a store that will have things that I can use at a cheap price? Thanks for the help. |

Hi,
It's not a teacher store, but Page One bookstore in Festival Walk, Kowloon Tong has an 'educational section'. When I was there I did notice they had some posters of the solar system, etc. Toys R' Us also had some posters. Also, Page One has some books that have the materials to set up different 'centres' in you classroom like a literacy centre, math centre, etc.
Anyway, I know its not much, but so far it's the best that I've found. Good luck, and please post if you find some better options.

There are two that I know of:
The Professional Teacher's Union, they have two branches. One in Causeway Bay and one in Mong Kok.
Also, there is the Teacher Supplies Center. I think it is in Kwun Tong. |

Professional Teachers' Union shops are great but you need to be a member in order to shop there. Perhaps you'll need to borrow the membership card from your colleague as they don't usually check. |

It is only $60 a year for membership.
Either apply through your school, ther ewill be a PTU representative, of take a form to complete. You will need a school chop on it. But, teh school secretary will probably do it for you.
Hope this helps.

There's a good bookstore in TST, near the ferry terminal. I can't remember the name, but do know the location.
It's over towards Harbour city mall. I think the building's called 'Star House'. It's faces the bus stops and is the one that has Starbucks, Hagen Daz, 7/11, McDs and a camera shop with the rudest shopkeeper I've ever come across in this city (and that's saying something).
Also, it's the building where you get all the Indians standing outside it and coming up asking if you want to buy a nice watch sir, gucci rolex sir.
Upstairs is a computer mall.
Anyway, inside, past the Starbucks, up the escalator, computer shops on 1/f, bookstore on 2/f (iirc).
Store mostly is Chinese, but it does have english-language books (non/ficiton) and, more importantly for this thread, it has an educational section. Pretty cheap posters and stuff. |
