| Actually, it's pretty obvious that he is insulting more than usual, as he's realized it's the only way to get the thread deleted, and maybe his only way to save face. |

| Don't see why I should Glenski but seeing as how you asked so nicely here goes. |
Sigh. I leave for a few moments, and we have two more pages in between my posts. I hope no one is upset if I try to continue what I started.
Why should you answer? Well, reread what you just wrote. I asked nicely.

| For toothpaste afficionados |
Let's stop here. Who are these "afficionados"? Most civilized people use toothpaste. I guess this is just Sweetsee's own brand of English.

| ...the local product |
Again, this is a strange term, as someone else mentioned. Sweetsee, if you are referring to the multitude of Japanese brands, as I understand you, ok. Just remember, though, as someone else has pointed out, there are more than Japanese brands usually available in Japan.
[quote]...comes up short in terms of variety, packaging, flavor, value and effectiveness. [/quote
Personal opinion, and only a few people that I've seen posting in 9 years have brought up these issues. Are they not real? No. Are they that outstanding that the majority of foreigners complain? Not that I've seen, so it would behoove you to be more specific as to what afficionados are making these claims.
Moreover, I think you are misinforming people about the variety that's out there. One glance at any shelf will tell a person that. If there is something we are missing, please explain.
Moreover, what sort of "packaging" are the Japanese brands coming up short on? This is quite puzzling. Is there some sort of tube that the majority of foreigners prefer for some sense of convenience in dispensing which we are missing here?
Flavor. Yup. Some people complain about that, and as far as I've seen, it's the number one, albeit personal, complaint when there is one. Does that warrant your remark? Not in the way that you've written in, as far as I'm concerned. Besides, as I've responded to this from others, there are plenty of brands to taste, including western ones.
Value. Please give us a cost comparison that makes sense.
Effectiveness. This is the number one issue that I take issue with. It usually centers around people falsely claiming that Japanese toothpaste does not have fluoride. And, I've shot this down on every occasion, so I won't bother to go into it here.

| It ... lasts forever |
No it doesn't. Misinformation again.

| and reminds one of home. |
So do the western brands that already exist here.
| Quote: |
| It also comes in kids' varities that make excellent gifts for those with small children. In short, it's fun! |
You are really reaching with ideas to support yourself now.
| Quote: |
| Costco carries it but only one variety. |
I wouldn't know because there is no Costco near me, but I wouldn't rely on buying a ton of toothpaste (the implication when shopping at Costco) when you can spend 150 yen and get a lot of fluoride-supplemented brands most anywhere.

| Are you taking a trip Glenski? |
Flippant remark that deserves no other reply.
| Quote: |
| P.S. Please explain: "Let's not go down this road before." |
The road described above, where ...
1. you misinform people, and
2. like others, you mention its effectiveness (ie, fluoride content) without any substantive support |

| I couldn't imagine you could stoop any lower than you already have ali, or did I miss the part where you did anything but fan the flames here. Give it a rest, as I will do the same seeing as how I have work tomorrow, a beautiful wife and two beautiful daughters who know who I am. I hope you are able to enjoy your Sunday all the same. |

| Toothpaste aside, was it necessary to repudiate my post to the OP glenski? By doing so, were you hoping to safeguard the OP against misinformation or challenge the validity of my right to express myself here? Which is it? |

Probably a combination of many things. If you want a recap of forum life, I'll give it:
1. You constantly give poor, flippant advice.
2. You pretended to be a pregnant woman when you are a man.
3. You've said you survived jail and been deported out of Japan before.
4. You introduced silly statements to people new to Japan that police tollerate drugs.
5. You challenged us to to prove you wrong, and we did.
6. You then go on to insult, swear and act childish with most of your remarks.
7. You edit your posts afterwards because your realize how silly it makes you look, and that you were indeed wrong.
8. You refuse to acknowledge many of your gaffs and resort to name calling and the ever so powerful "fudge pack" insult.
9. You like tennis.
All this translate to:
Your advice and pretty much everything you contribute to this forum is not based on fact, misleading and harmful to people who might be looking for information to help them in their decisions about Japan.
That is the straight truth. |

1. says you
2. false
3. true
4. false
5. same
6. true
7. not entirely correct
8. same
9. false (love tennis, wanna play?)
The STRAIGHT truth as created by you, the one-handed typist. |

Allow me to be the first to offer my hand and apologies to anyone I may have offended. I am sorry.

Was it necessary? Yes. I would think that would have been obvious.
Was I hoping to safeguard the OP (and any other naive reader) against misinformation? Yes. Again, obvious.
Am I challenging your right to express yourself here? No.
[You have (again) lost me with the use of the word "validity". I challenge neither your right nor whatever validity to that right you intended to mean. More "Sweetseeisms".]
Oh, and your expression of apology is something we all see again and again after such textual joustings, yet they never seem to stop the remarks you make. Heads up, people.
Have a good day, Sweetsee. |
