From what I know Wall Street doesn't pay so well, requires alot of hours, and has a high turn over rate. I used to know someone in the organization. Also, they are almost always advertising for teachers in local papers and websites which makes you wonder why they can't hold onto anyone. It's a pretty big international company so someone should have more insight. |

I took them off. Why? Because I really don't know that much about Wall Street English to give such comments.
NET's make $50,000 and WSE (who say they want a NET) make 15,000? You fill in the blanks. |

Did someone get to you Freddie? You don't seem like the self-censoring type. |

WSE have the sort of set up that EF has over in the PRC; high hours, low pay, high turnover, high expectations, low results.
It's for people who should really be in China working for 7 or 8 thousand pieces of Chinese toilet paper a month. The minimum starting salary for a NET is 30,000 a month. Only those who CAN'T get that go elsewhere. |

hi, wanderlust,
interesting name 'wanderlust' - do you know what language it comes from? OR are you that celebrity, Bertrand, whose German is somewhat unreliable although he (she?) believes he can outtalk Gerhard Schroeder in his native language?
Your reply in this thread is quite informative in more ways than one - one being, of course, on the earning potential of HK-based teachers that want to make extra money tutoring at private training centres. I quite appreciated this part in your post.
The other piece of info is on you, however: You are a rather conceited chap, opinionated, and not a little arrogant, right?
Of course, I may err - just like yourself: maybe you are a dedicated, culture-interested, cosmopolitan, sophisticated and, above all, personable NET.
Rest assured that we here across the border have much the same qualities although most of us make do with a lot less money.
But that does not give you the right to slight us in the way you did, nor the money we make here - it's as good as HK dollars, if not better. I can honestly say I give my students as much as you give yours - perhaps even more, and I enjoy my work even though I have now been here many years, not counting two years teaching in Hong Kong. |

??? I was warned by no less than 5 seperate individuals that this forum haboured some obviously disturbed contributors and I have seen plenty of evidence of this already! It really does seem like there are a lot of unhappy people out there teaching English!

Oh well, thank you master! I will always try my utmost to please you. Who the hell do you think you are? This is your personal forum, is it? I was not answering you, but was commenting on MY THOUGHTS on WSE. I was under the impression that this forum propogated free speech. Or have you been in that crudhole commonly referred to as 'China' for too long.....?

Whatever. I doubt though if anyone cares WHAT you think.

Same qualities....?! Rubbish. You keep telling yourself that if you want. Maybe after long enough you may even begin to believe it. But ask me to accept that you CHOOSE to earn, I don't know, say, 9,000 RMB a month instead of - remember FROM CHOICE - perhaps 10,000 or 15,000 HK dollars a WEEK. That may hold for a SMALL percentage of you over there, but no way can it account for the vast majority! The only reason you are over there is because you can't hack it with the big boys over here.

Yuan better than the HK dollar? Don't make me laugh!
Everyone watch out! No one is allowed to mention the FACT that people in HK earn more than people in China! It upsets poor little Roger! We have to pretend that they earn the same or that we earn less! Well done Roger for your contribution to free speech.
If you don't like the truth, that's your problem!

Kicked you out after only 2 years, did they?
He talks about 'arrogance', etc., and then attempts to tell me how I teach when he does not even know me! One word does spring to mind....... |

No idea about the NET requirements but recently met a guy who, until very recently, worked at Wall Street. He told me..salary was 19,000 HK dollars a month. Hours were 12pm till 9pm weekdays and 10am till 5pm Saturdays. He reckoned on average of 6 teaching hours a day. He left, he said, because they were only interested in making money and not the students or teachers. It was ok at first, but then dreaded going into work so he quit after 6 months. |

One of my ex-colleagues also worked for WSE a couple of years ago. The pay was HK$18k for average 25 teaching hrs per week. He couldn't stand the working hours (12pm - 9pm) which were unsociable. Lunch time at 4 or 5pm in the afternoon really messed up his normal eating pattern. Management were constantly breathing down his back and he felt that he was in a business conference for every class. Turnover for teaching staff was extremely high. Not the best place nor the worst. He quit his job after three months. |

Kurva,
"Did someone get to you Freddie? You don't seem like the self-censoring type"
Truth be told, I found my softer side. I have found thousands of reasons to be kind.
Don't worry Kurva, the real Freddie will be back soon. |

Being desperate i just went for an interview.
These are what they offered.
$17,000 a month rising to $18,000 a month after 3 months
Hours: 12:00pm - 9:00pm Monday to Friday
10:00pm - 5:00pm alternative Saturdays
1 hour for lunch.
Teachers not to leave premisies except for lunch break.
14 days holiday a year. I think that is the public and national hoildays mixed together.
At a qucik off my head calculation that is 100 an hour, I was told overtime is $110 an hour. |

Hi all,
They have created a way to make money! Yes, it's true. But, they did it by creating a method that really works! |
Doesn't sound like teaching to me, more like advertising!!! Shame on you... |
