Is there some kind of a power struggle going on here in this small, insignificant recess of the ESL underworld? 4 calls have been made for this thread to be closed. All have gone unheeded.

I say we close this thread, if not for any other reason than as a face-saving gesture to those who have displayed the temerity and arrogance to pass themselves off as self-appointed moderators. After their thousands of contributions to this forum they, of all members, do not deserve the spite they are being shown by those duly-appointed to moderate this Cafe.

I would like to continue to take their postings seriously; therefore, honor their request and be done with it.

This thread had been sinking for the past two days and would have disappeared off the page if you hadn't decided to ressurect it. For those who want it gone and forgotten, stop posting replies to it. Simple.

Well actually, at least two of those who have called for this thread to be shut down used to be moderators on this forum. The temerity and arrogance comes in criticizing those about whom you know absolutely nothing.

Thanks for sharing that, Jim. I hadn't realized the situation was as grave as that. That must be a truly humiliating slap in the face for the two former moderators to have had their calls for the closure of this thread rejected by those who have replaced them. This bodes ill for their future postings, for without the clout to enforce their threats they come across as mere bullies.

Again, I motion to have this thread closed if, for nothing more, than as a face-saving gesture to those four who are demanding nothing less than the respect they are being denied. The sheer volume of their contributions has earned them the right to some sort of honorary title, like moderator emeritus, or what have you.

For their wounded pride I say, CLOSE THIS THREAD!

Right here King, just back from life, but I see it's business as usual here.
Appreciate the kind words King and our little one is now eight weeks and four kilos.
Where in Oz? Where are you going to be here, when?
Enjoy,
s

No doubt about this thread being a bit of rubbish. It's an example of the oddball behaviour that happens on a lot of internet forums but is rarer on the eslcafe because of stricter moderation. Looking at the poster concerned's track record, there are some aggressive and trolling posts there.

This thread began with an apology that was then instantly retracted. Those who don't agree with "Soursie" (more suitable than "Sweetsie") were then slagged off as "Scum". That's completely unacceptable here and it happened early in this thread.

Re the mods - remember they have lives too. Send them a private message to get this thread locked.

Noticed that of the posters here none were on the thread announcing the birth of our daughter, except for you King.

Because we don't post in a thread about your family, doesn't mean that we don't wish people well etc. If you really did have a baby, I sincerely hope that everything went smooth for your wife/partner etc. However, you gave the impression that you were the one having the baby etc. Rolling Eyes

To stay on topic, you apologized, retracted and now are discussing the lack of interest in an old thread about a proposed birth. I just don't see the logic.

The moderators will do what they want with this thread, if anything, when they want. I'm sure they missed your abusive and horrible language in the other thread, and it was locked, so this one might stay alive until you start another tirade again.

Oh great! The return of everyone's favourite inane whipping boy. It's interesting that you're already editing your posts after foolishly flaming the whole forum. I thought you always thought DAMN hard about everything you post. Well, already you have made three reverals in your "apology" thread. It only underlines just how meaningless everything you write is.

The whole forum ali? You mean glenski, shuize, canuck, cafebleu, JD2, Sour Grape, Gordon and you? That's pretty funny ali. But ali, I'm asking again, where do you fit in here? Are you what they call a fluffer?

I've no idea what a fluffer is. Enjoy the sex change op in Thailand.
