Ok guys... So im thinking its time to leave japan and head up to Turkey. Well I sent out my cv/resume and one company before even having a telephone interview offered me a job. Seem strange but it one big schoools. However they want me to come over just as tourist first because they say gettting a visa is duffcult. Not sure why.. I have a degree and such.
What is it really like for foreign people in Turkey? Are the turkish folks open?? Also I was thinking to stay at that school apartment for while. I would like to live on my own because I dont like to share a place. Is it easy for a non turkish person to get a place. I have been in japan for over 3 years and it hard at times for us gaijin to rent a place.
I would really like to come but just feel a bit scared as I really dont have any connections there at all. Hate to say it but it not always so good to be friends with you coworkers so I cant depend on that. In japan it very hard to know people. How about turkey?? So sorry to write so much. I will be glad of any info you guys give me |

Unless you are a complete freak from outter space, it is very easy to make friends in Turkey and the locals are very friendly.
I would, however, be very WARY of any school that hires you without any kind of interview. You know it smells fishy.

Oh yeah, yes, very easy to rent a place, if you want. |

The truth is that most schools are short of teaching staff, doesn't really matter how good you are as long as you are a native speaker .Some of the new ones at my place have never set foot in a classroom, yet they got hired .Go figure ! Finding a place to crash is the least of your problems .Most of your fellow countrymen will do you more harm than the Turks, given the chance . Good luck . |
