Hey all Smile To anyone who can help..

Was just curious of something.. I'm finishing up a degree in phonetics, and after 3 years of teaching English (including a few courses specifically on pronounciation) and a degree in linguistics, I feel I have a fair bit of education and training. Specifically in accent and pronounciation training, a rather small niche, although in general language training as well. I've got a bit of an ear for sounds, so I can hear and correct small differences.

I'd love to get a job working with pronounciation/accent training, either for native speakers wishing to have a particular accent (such as actors), or more likely, non-native speakers in situations where they want to improve/change their accents. I'm honestly not sure where to start, tho'.

Suggestions? Smile

Hum, you'll noticed I responded to the last post of that before.. that thread has nothing to do with work as a phonetician, it is asking how much IPA should be used in a classroom :o

Any other suggestions?

^ Moi Theriel !

If I had to suggest one resource,

it would be The Linguist List @ http://linguistlist.org/

In addition to jobs in phonology, you'll find a HUGE range

of publications, links & information arranged by topic.

Use the drop-down search box on the homepage

to zero in on the topics that interest you.

re: job search / phonetics & phonology

In the top navigation bar, click on Jobs

& then click on: Browse Active Listings

There are specialists in pronunciation and so-called 'accent reduction' working in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and elsewhere -- including India. Some make very good money indeed.

Here are a couple of companies in the US:

Here's one in the UK:
