What's up with the Japanese retail industry obsession with point cards? There's no escaping it.

I'm considering getting a couple T-shirts made up, desiganted as my special shopping t-shirts, with the following printed on the front: POINTO CAADO WA MOTTEIMASEN!!! Evil or Very Mad

There is no disadvantage to point cards. You get a discount for your next purchase. Go ahead and make your t-shirt. Rolling Eyes

how about "pointo card wo hoshii desu" Question They are useful for discounts Wink In England we have them too... not only Japan yo!!

Yeah, I agree... The Yodobashi point card is great. Depending on the item, you can get between 10 and 20% of the value in points for future purchases. If you buy a few things, it quickly adds up.

I also have point cards for a few restaurants I go to... Admittedly that discount isn't that great but I eat there a lot so why not take something that's free.

If they ask you for a point card and you're not into, just say you don't have one. It's that easy!

Here's the thing... I've been going to the same neighbnourhood grocery store for months, 3-5 times per week, and seeing the same 1 or 2 cashiers. Each time they ask the same annoying question. Each time, I give the same reply. Hello? Is there an echo in here?????

Otherwise, take my beef as a bit of "bad hair day" venting. Is that allowed here? Or does every single post have to be sent to the Dave's kangaroo court, wherein canuck is the self-appointed judge, jury and executioner?

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, but you see...it's annoying for you BECAUSE it's always the same cashiers at the same supermarket. But if you use the same place alll the time its even more useful to have a point card. Wink
