Yeah.. I don't even want to think about Christmas. oH GoD! All my western friends are returning back to their home countries. I was thinking of it but I am returning for good on Jan 26th (so it would be a waste if I went home 30 days before). Anybody in Nagoya bored on Christmas day? I was thinking of going to Korea/Saipan but all of those packages require 2 people.

Very true, about the saving money part. Busy is okay, but being too busy is not so good as well. Of course, if you like being busy, you may be either a social butterfly, a workaholic, or both !
Actually, I am always sick for home, well except when my wife wants me to come home early when I'm out drinking! |

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I have come out of the stage and am feeling much happier now. Maybe it's because I received a $2000 cheque from my insurance company? But who knows?

It goes in cycles. The feeling will be back. It morphs and changes and evolves and cycles.... you're never "over" it.

Very good advice has been given. When I first came to Japan we used to go to Thailand every chance we had. Nothing cures the blues more than booking a trip and the anticipation of a Thai Christmas.
Enjoy,

I say go to your local grocery store, and try to find some western treats. When I used to get homesick, I'd try and hang out with other English speaking people. Some of the girls in my area and I would go to the local grocery store, get much too much junkfood and watch a downloaded movie. It usually did the trick. That or getting out of your home city and seeing something new. You dont really need to leave Japan, even going somewhere neat thats a couple hours away can do the trick. I thought about packing it in during the first couple of months there too...I also found setting things to look forward to helped a bit. Like a vacation in a month, a dinner party in a week, things like that. Skype is also a wonderful thing.
