I think you can do weekly rentals at Palermo House, right in Palermo Viejo. It's somewhat characterless but clean, well-located, and quiet, as far as hostels go.

Another place I highly recommend is Chill House...but it's a bit more intimate than your average quasi-corporate churn-em-out (HI) hostel. It has a nice party vibe...I don't think the Jamaican flag hanging prominently on the wall is sheer coincidence...but nothing too rowdy. It's not in the best location - right on the border of Palermo Viejo and Villa Crespo (or maybe Almagro) but it'll do fine if you don't mind walking. This place is really popular so you should try to book far in advance.

Good luck. |

I have stayed at chill house. Cool place, and I do not think that flag is there by accident....
It was fun for a couple days....
If you want solitude I would go somewhere else (but I was there during some big techno-music fest).
It was very clean, safe, and secure. I walked all around all hours and never had a problem. |
