Hi
There's another discussion board for English teachers in Gemany, at http://www.tefl-germany.de.
It covers the same areas as this board, and along with a lot of gloomy posts on the current work situation, there's quite a bit of information on permits, visas, tax and compulsory pensions (dangerous to ignore, the pensions thing).
Look forward to seeing you there (on the tefl-germany site, I mean: don't come to Germany, there's not enough work for us as it is).

I am happy that someone else is confirming my doom and gloom about the work scene oin Germany. I was beginning to think that I was delusional and that I had dreamed my experiences in visiting Germany over the last few years.
The job scene for native speakers of English as EFl tecahers in Germany is NOT GOOD.
I would love to have a job in Germany. I worked there before. I speak good German. I am a mature and responsble adult, unlike some of the characters we meet i EFL.
But........................... There is little or nothing doing in Germany or elsehwre in the German-speaking world.
There is no natural law that says there have to be jobs where we want them. That is why i find myself working in the Middle East !!!!!! |
