So I sat on those Wandalex shares, and they took a pleasant rise to 6.10 today (up from my purchase price of 4.2 three months ago.) I dont expect them to slump back to more than 5.8, but I wouldnt expect them to rocket any more unless you guys have some fresh news on them.
On the WIRR index, 08Octavia seem to be rather volatile - whats the score with them? |

Hello mate.
Wandalex is solid as Ive said all along. You arent going to lose on it now. Could go to 7 even but slowly but surely. Not in big steps. The WIRR index has been riding high for a while. Some of them (the 08 included) has been making some good investments recently and some of the companies these NFIs are owners of are considering coming to the market. Thats why theyve been jumping around alot recently.
Some other info on other, possibly, interesting companies. I got into a firm called FON which I discovered is basically a shell company with little earnings and a little cash. They were having problems finding someone to underwrite a new issue of shares and all looked bleak. Bought them at 0,68zl....and soon after they found someone to underwrite the issue. They have plans to use the new cash (when it comes) to go into business - in something. No details yet but it could be property development. Also talk of a steel company reversing into FON to get a listing on the market. All very interesting....and the shares, now at 0,90zl will go further on more announcements.
Kompap, another firm wanting to diversify has just brought forward its date for announcing figures to this Friday, from next Monday. Results wont be special but if they have any news on what they want to do next the stock could jump.
Budopol, a builder and property developer in Wroclaw is cheap at 3,60....had a high of 8 and Ive read that "true" value is 5. |

This thread went very quiet - has everyone given up?
I bought into Wandalex when this thread was last active (March?) and today they jumped from 6.80 to 8.00zl - I can't work out why! I know the market was undervalued on Mondau, but can anyone shed any further light on this sudden jump? |

Maybe they're too busy following the Warsaw Property Bubble. |

| I believe it went quiet when 'mique' was exposed as being something of a fraud. |

If you could tell me what 'shill' meant I might be able to answer the question. |

Mique is still here....Sitting back and epecially enjoying Kymro behaving like a *beep* on most of the threads on here. Ive not been exposed as a shill or anything else as far as Im concerned. Probably Kymro is just upset that Ive got my finger in a few little pies and all he has is some poxy little school which obviously feels the pressure from the big schools because he spends half his time slating them.
Anyway....Wandalex jumped because it announced plans to expand eastwards, especially Russia... Wandalex is solid and apart from small drops the trend is still up. So have you got into anything else Grrrr..? |

Why not answer the questions on this thread, Mique
Such as why you apparently didn't complete your contract with Profi
And why you advertised Spanish language courses on a large number of different forums
And why a humble teacher for Profi, (the Polish language school equivalent of McDonald's), regards himself as a big-shot share expert and wheeler-dealer |

I am amazed by the fact that being a completely off the subject post this thread has attracted more views than any other with more ESL related issues. Anyway, let me put my two cents and tell you that this whole investing deal shown here as the best thing since Google's IPO, is so misleading that you all need to read a guide or "stock market for dummies". You must know that many eastern European currencies, including the euro have recorded historic record-highs against the dollar. It is because these currencies didn't show strong demands of US assets. Take the Polish market for instance which is pegged against the USD. For instance, the return of a Polish investment in USD was 22.87% during a nine-month period this year. During the same nine-month period the Polish zloty (PLN) devalued 5.23% against the USD. What was the return for the same period for a Polish investor (i.e., in PLN)?
A simple mathematical relation links the rates of returns measured in the local currency of the foreign asset with those in the home country, or domestic, currency:
(1+rd) = (1+rf)(1+st,T) (I.1)
rd: return in the domestic currency from t to t+T.
rf: return on the foreign asset from t to t+T.
st,T: change of the foreign currency in terms of the domestic currency from t to t+T.
So rd Polish investor=(1.2287)(.9477)-1= equals around 16%. Plus when you sell the stock, you have to sell low, so deduct a 5% in the transaction. So what does that leave you with? The interest that is equivalent to putting your money in a high yield money market in most cases.
Somebody mentioned the NYSE, now that is a real winner.... NOT. Invest in the Middle East (oil and gas producing countries) where the money always flows, there is low risk and huge returns. The bubble will burst soon or later, but that is another story...
So you need to wind down the hype shown so far in those "tips" in terms of currency fluctuation and real capital gain. You'b better off investing in real estate property: buy a house and get real returns (average 25% and rising) in equity and you won't be hedged about with risk. |

I'd have to say Bindair has given excellent advice.
For example, 4 years ago I bought a flat for 105k PLN, with a mortgage in US dollars.
A week ago I changed the mortgage to Swiss Francs, and pocketed 35k PLN.
The property is probably worth 300k PLN now. |

| The property advice is also a good one, and that's been covered elsewhere too (I'm just finishing the purchase of mine) - however, the fees for purchasing a building come in around 25k zlots; not many teachers have accumulated that yet, so stocks are a viable small-sum earner still. I cashed mine in to pay the tax on my flat, so I don't have anything at the moment, but I'm still keeping my eyes on the market. |

I would hate to think I was stumbling into this naively, so I plugged my students as to what, in their experience, should and shouldn't be paid for, and ended up with costs on a 300k apartment (with a garage! hurrah!) like this:
Mortgage fee inc insurance until my name is written on the title deeds: ~5000
2% contract tax: 6000
Notary fees: 2200
VAT on the notary fees: ~500
Other legal stuff, including a translator: ~1000
Agent's fees: just under 10k.
All in - about 25k.
Yes, the agent's fees could have been avoided, but 1) my agent has done a great job co-ordinating everything 2) I spent 4 months trying to find a place through private owners and got f**ked around more than once by Poland's older citizens withdrawing from the sale on the day I was due to sign the pre-contract, or demanding an insane 10% rise, or not revealing massive flaws in the building.
I took a 90% loan in swiss francs, so my repayments aren't that steep either. |
