Speaking of Nagoya, there was a fantastic festival Saturday and Sunday down the main street. It showed quite a turnout.

I third Nagoya. I haven't travelled around all that much yet, but I've still had a good look round Kyoto, Tokyo and many points in between - it's a great base for travelling. As a city, it's pretty cool - clean, modern, convenient and not too big or too small. Lots of festivals, lots of history, lots of restaurants, lots of nightlife and not too expensive.

When I looked into JET years ago, I thought it would be a good choice, since it's so often overlooked, which means a better chance at a city posting...
