I finished a job in Semarang recently and had already organized a new job in a Uni near Jakarta. I had to go back to Semarang to get my EPO and then went on to Bali and to Australia for my new Temporary Stay Permit (Kita-Vitas or whatever) and a short holiday. When I went out from Bali the Immigration worker asked me to pay the Fiscal.
I said to him I don't need to because I was leaving for good. He told me to see the boss in the office, the boss took one look at my face and could see I wasn't going to give him and money, so he just stamped my passport and off I went.
I also got my Kitas in one day in Sydney and didn't pay extra. I showed them my return ticket to Indonesia which was for the next day, and spoke nicely to them in my best Bah. Indonesia. You can be lucky sometimes. |

Why? There is no fiskal to pay if you leave on an EPO!
So, why are you lucky? |

Simply because I got on the plane without an arguement with an Immigration Officer.
You know there is no Fiscal when you go out on an EPO but many other expats do not know, so the immigration people prey on that fact and extract money from them. |

I don't know how you got out of Bali without paying fiskal.
The new law seems to be well known at Soekarno-Hatta in Jakarta, and just in case an Imigrasi officer tries to wangle the fiskal out of you, there is the option of paying it by credit card. Any offers to do so seem to refresh the officer's memory.
But everyone at Bali airport swears that not only does the new law not apply in Bali, it doesn't exist in Jakarta either. And they've carefully made sure that you can't pay by credit card at the airport, or in advance at a BCA.
I had to pay fiskal before they'd let me through, and I recently heard from a friend who got stuck with no cash and ended up having to buy a new ticket because he wasn't allowed to board the plane.
The main problem is that there seems to be nothing in writing about the new law. Has anyone seen a copy of the amendment? Could they post it for other teachers? The EF school in Bali believes they still have to pay fiskal on an EPO. So do the people at the Department of Immigration in Denpasar. So who made the new law, and where is it? Is it a secret? |

Every new law is secret, and it never applies to where you are. Just like I social visa is good for 6 months but here its only good for 4.and a 6 month working visa is only good for 3 unless u pay 2 juta to immigration and 1 juta to labor.
Such fun to be here, well good with the bad it is |
