Hi
Thinking of working in Poland (currently in China). I'm a UK citizen, married (to a UK citizen), but only looking for work for me. Will IH for example offer me a job and I can bring my family as well? Or will it be better to all turn up and look for work then? I do have a CELTA but no degree.
I understand no visas are required for UK citizens? Just get a job offer, turn up and work legally?
Thanks |

If IH have vacancies, they'll offer a job but unless you've got a lot of money, you won't be able to survive on their wages. They offer a flat / allowance in shared accommodation which wouldn't be any good for you. Even single people are struggling nowadays on wages that haven't gone up for several years.
As a married man with children living here, I'd say you'd need at least 3000zl net a month to survive (1200 would probably go on rent and bills depending on where you went) but your post talks about 'family' and 'us all' so I guess there are children. That means school fees (international? local?) more clothes, food etc not to mention a bigger flat.
As for turning up etc, there's no problem with work permits but most schools hire for the academic year so, unless they take on new contracts or teachers break their contract, they will probably be fully staffed until June.
Not very cheerful I'm afraid... |

...but not bleak either.
As the Sarge said, you have complete freedom to work in PL, and IH is not your best bet, but it isn't the best time of the year to be looking for work. If you can find a school that needs a teacher, and I think you can, then you can step right in. Many schools will arrange your housing and you can change that later if it doesn't suit you. Pick a region in Poland, contact some schools, and don't work for anything less than 3K. |

Due to circumstances we plan to arrive mid-Feb next year. Any advice here about jobs, housing etc? |
