The answer to that question entirely depends on the lifestyle you expect to be living. If you expect to be painting the town red on a regular basis, then I would look for something better. I used to make a bit more than that when I lived Tokyo and with a moderate lifestyle I was able to save around $500-$700 US a month. With that I was able to eat out fairly regularly, keep my girlfirend happy, have a night out on the town maybe once a month, and take a two-week vacation to Thailand. I totally enjoyed my time in Tokyo on my Eikaiwa salary, but you have to be careful if you want to save.

A lot of the ceilings in Tokyo are rather low, so hanging yourself may be difficult unless you're a dwarf. Jumping in front of a train in the Chuo line is the 'done thing'. When in Rome, sorry Tokyo,................................

Please don't jump in front of a train on the Chuo line.

If you must jump in front of a train, please choose another line. I realize that the Chuo is de rigueur, but it's the one everyone chooses. It may be wise to break out of the mold. Wink

It's unwise to jump infront of a train because it disrupts the commute and the jumper's family might be forced to pay. I heard the trend is for many people to hang themselves in the early morning, in the parks, so that they would be found quickly and the families wouldn't have to pay any money. Crazy, but true.

Hentai,

It's clear that you crave attention; you've been posting the same BS questions for the last month. Every time a thread falls down the list, you start a new one in your own honor. So, yes, please take yourself out. Quickly. And please do it in your own country. Wink

Don't jump on the Tobu Tojo or Saikyo lines either, those train delays just muck up the rest of my day.

Oh and Eva Pilot, all of Attention Please has been subbed and torrented for your viewing pleasure. I got mine from jpopsuki. Enjoy! Very Happy

oh (wo)man, just follow this advice. If you want to get drunk, as we all do. Go the CONVENIENCE STORE first. Get plastered on cheap booze, or alternatively buy the spirits or the sake, which is even cheaper. Then, when you hit a bar, you should be nicely tanked so as to save you plenty of money.

And if the bar is of relatively small size, take a couple of cans and leave them outside, then order a token beer and nip out for a 'cigarette/phone call' top up every so often. No probs. Me and my friends do it all the time. And for things like karaoke or bowling, just secret the beer in a bag or under a coat, and take it in with you. Again, I do it all the time. Never been caught, never been questioned. Usually the staff are 12 year old students too scared to say anything to a gaijin.

For everything else, you're on your own.
