I lived in Nonthaburi years ago and the room I stayed in was not great, mainly just a bed, air con, and lukewarm shower, but it was under 3000 baht a month. A guy I knew there had a house for 6000.
I guess in BKK it has to be at least 6000 a month for just a small room with maybe a bed, aircon and not much else?
Nonthaburi is an option if you don't mind 25 minutes on a bus to get to BKK (around Victory Monument). Then again, that travel will cost another 1000 or more per month i guess. |

With what seems to be an average of 30000 baht a month, 6000 is quite a chunk of your check. There isn't anything cheaper that there? |

I think 30000 is kind of low for an average for BKK. If you have a degree and a TEFL cert. then 35000 should be the minimum starting wage for a full time position. Add at least one year experience and I wouldn't settle for less than 40000.
Housing costs depend on where you are. Even within BKK the price varies widely. If you want to be steps from a skytrain station then you'll pay for it. |

I saw an ad for a place called Funland that only paid 28,000 for the first two months and then after that 30,000. I might be able to nab something higher paying since I have a BA in Linguistics and a TESL certificate from my university. |

30,000 in BKK for a full time job (meaning M-F, 8:00-4:00, 20 or more teaching hours per week) is for chumps. If a school offers you that, laugh then leave. |

Really? I didn't know that. I'm not familiar with the going rate of pay and hours. What about the possibility of getting a public school teaching position? I have one right now (not in Thailand obviously) and the hours and pay are pretty spectacular. It's making it difficult to quit here and consider moving to Thailand. |
