Over 3000 classes taught
Countless gallons of salsa
92 variations on the word chingar learned
At least 40 of said variations appropriately used, at one time or another
1 new language learned
1 other language nearly forgotten for lack of use
1 native language badly corrupted - a total dismother
1 new wife
1172 new in-laws
1 supernatural sense of sidewalk politics achieved
1 deep frustration with 'the passive voice' grown
1 strange fascination with accordions and tubas acquired
1 deep love for a new land and people gained

November 1 is my birthday as well. Confused 40 today.

I don't like to celebrate my birthday - in fact I really hate thinking about it. It just makes me feel like I've wasted another year without accomplishing anything really useful. People always want to do all this "Happy birthday" bullshit and it irritates the crap out of me.

Grumble.

The students in my 9AM class brought a birthday cake to the class. Ugh. Thanks, guys.

I don't mean that, of course, but I'd just rather have a normal day. The great thing about living in Mexico is that since November 2nd is a national holiday, so we always get to go home early on November 1. Heh heh!

Congratulations Guy!

You mentioned previously your quarter-life crisis at age 27...did Mexico get you through it?

( I am in the midst of my quarter life crisis and looking for some inspiration:)

Wow, special day all round...

I'd wish you a happy birthday LS but I'm not so sure now you'd like it? How about a horoscope reading for the two Scorpios in here.

In general...

Quote:
You are very intense, strong willed, determined and secretive. Nothing escapes your attention. Scorpio can let tensions build to the exploding point. Investigation and research play a big part in your life. Scorpio is a deep thinker with a fine mind. You love a good fight, and then wonder why the other person is angry. Scorpio is forceful and courageous. Scorpio is usually interested in anything that has to do with the occult.

This week...

Quote:
You will need to watch for mechanical or electrical problems the first part of this week. Hang onto all receipts as payments or checks can be easily lost now. Some money may be coming your way from an unexpected source. Love is in the stars for you now so be sure you are out and about to meet this special person. Travel by air is possible now to a place you have visited in the past.

In other words, if its being naco isn't reason enough, don't put up your Christmas lights yet. Your quincena check will be late. That $10 I owe from '96 is on the way. Some beach babe has eyes for you (unless you're married). And it's time for a vacation.

I'd say it did. I got married, started on what now seems to be a career, and bought a power drill. I'm well on my way to the mid-life crisis. Rag top red t-bird, here I come.

Since we're listing the specialness of the day:

Tomorrow marks five years since I stopped smoking, just one of the many, many good things that has transpired since my arrival in this strange land some xx years ago.

Congratulations on the birthdays and long stays!
