Yello,

Does anybody know whether there are any opportunities for short term work (1-3 months) in Indonesia.

Similar stuff to summer/winter camps or the Westgate scheme in Japan.

Many thanks.

No, I'm pretty sure there's nothing like that here. You can only legally work on a work permit, which is for a year, and is very expensive. I've never heard of anything else. I could be wrong.

no, never heard of any short term teaching jobs, maybe cus the schools know they cant get one over on you if they give 2-6 month visas.

Noitce how everyone thinks the only visa is, 1 year.... Shocked

Schools here are the same as in other places, just want to get rich, only thing here is trhe gov wants the same thing, so they work hand in hand

If you want to get a work visa - legally - for a 'Guru Bahasa Inggris' there is no alternative but a 12 month stint.

Check this with the manpower ministry, if you have an hour to spare.

Yes there are work visas available (usually cited by people who haven't checked the facts but just read a page from the Indo embassy Singapore website) for other periods, but not for native speaker teaching posts.

You should be able to get a six month post in Indonesia at an EF if you don't mind paying for your own flights there and back. Just bargain hard, tell them that you want to only sign for six months with a view to extending your contract when that is up. They pay for the KITAS, you pay for flights, everyone's happy.

This is what I did for my second stint in Indonesia and it worked out fine.

Well you know how it is here, it all depends on who u talk to, my last 5 visas have been 6 month each even I have only stayed 3 months on some (as thats the rule here, well according to the head of immigration, who is the one who stamps the extension) now in Singapore you can get any visa you want, when you get here no one ask anything, if you want to pay manpower its up to you and your boss
