I am currently in South Korea but will be finished with my contract by next summer, whereupon I plan on moving on to Eastern Europe. To the best of my knowledge Eastern Europe still represents a possibility for Americans in terms of the work permit. I would be very interested in Hungary. Is it possible in Hungary for an American? Any relevant information on Hungary in general and EFL therewould be appreciated...

PS I am bilingual in German and English...could this help in Hungary?

Double PS does Hungarian have 18 or 25 cases? Is it really impossible to learn?

Hello! I would like to help u out with some info. Of course u can work here as a native teacher, the German knowledge is probably an advantage. I recommend u to check the sites of the language schools and contact them. here is a little help, www.something-american.com , they hire native teachers as well. or nyelvoktatas.lap.hu
Yes HUngarian is a very difficult language, but with a little enthusiasm and talent, it can be learnt. I know some foreign ppl who speak Hungarian very well.

hungarian only has three tenses, the difficulties lie elsewhere.
german is a help getting around among older people but they wont need you for teaching.
plenty of work for americans and anyone else who can speak english, either turn up and knock on doors or go through a placement program that will get you sorted legally and get you a full time job etc. but basically the authorities are willing to give out permits because english teachers are in very short supply. dont sell yourself short when you are there, remember that it is a seller's market right now.
