Come next August/September would it possible as a newly-qualified (CELTA) teacher to get work abroad (in Europe) from my home country (ie before I travel out to that country). I would certainly consider France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and may consider Poland, Czech Republic.

I am a native-speaker and an EU national.

Shouldn't be too difficult; don't expect to save any money though.

Actually, it's not commonly done to hire from abroad.
Past problems (people not showing up, or having misrepresented themselves in some way when they do) mean that the better schools in the countries you mention don't normally hire from abroad.

To get the better jobs, you've really got to be here on the ground, CV in hand, looking professional and responsible.

Beware of schools that will hire you sight-unseen. They may be ok, but they very possibly have a bad reputation in the region for some reason or other, and therefore have to resort to hiring from abroad.

Please note that I am speaking of Europe (all countries mentioned in OP) not Asia - very different world there.
