It's not surprising that you don't find gay teachers all over the place. Only, what, something like 3 or 4 percent of the population is gay in the first place, right?

Having said that, I can understand why homosexuals would be relatively more common in teaching overseas. They tend (obviously) to be less burdened by spouses/ partners and children, so it is a lot easier for them to take the step of moving out of their home countries.

It seems that a lot of Japanese people dont actually know that 'gay' means just enjoying sex with the same gender. Lots of people think it means someone who is effeminate, wears ladies clothes, etc. This is what they call, what is it, "okama" I think.

if there is any central place, it is Shinjuku. There are over 200 gay bars there.
It is where people go to drink, relax, and unwind.
