In other news, the ARINC employees are wondering if they will get danger pay. That does not really impact workers of course, I do not even know an ARINC person as they all live on the executive side of the compound. |
Don't see that they need danger pay. Saudi is one of the safest countries to be in.... but then they might be in danger of having to actually take physical part in the work, due to personell shortage (coutesy of DIFA) |

In June 2005 Kollsman distributed shiny new medical insurance cards from Saudi Continental Insurance. The plan looked good. But, when I tried to use my card in July 2005, I was told by the clinic that they were no longer accepting Kollsman/Saudi Continental cards. Then Kollsman told us to submit medical bills directly to them. I'm still waiting for reimbursement. |

A couple of things,
Rent on the compound has still not been paid. The Compound Guy says he has some sort of paper promising payment.
Billy P is now back in the Kingdom. I got a paper with his signature on it.
ARINC has proclaimed payday to be the third of the month, unless it falls on a weekend in which case they will pay the preceding Wednesday. Let's see if they can do it. |

One of the guys used his shiny new MedGulf Card last week, and it was accepted.... but then the company name on the card is not DIFA/Kollsman |

Rumors of a power cut at a Riyadh housing compound for nonpayment. Film at eleven. |

Saudi doesn't have local 11 o'clock news.
Glad to hear a contract associated with Zan/DIFA actually has medical insurance. But how long will it last? |

Yesterday we heard that although Arinc had their ducks in a row, other parties didn't know the difference between pidgeons and crows; i.e. still have no idea when Iqamas will be processed |

OK, 3 December is pay day, and they paid us.
Of course with no igamas, there is nothing to do with the money. I have three month's salary in my hiding place. It does pile up. |

Just wondering - has DIFA/ARINC paid the non-direct employees? (those that weren't paid from January?) |

I checked today. Yes, the overheads are still owed 9 months salary. ARINC/DIFA refuses to pay. |

Confirmed yesterday, that Iqamas are being renewed in small quantities, seems like those about to expire, or have just expired are being processed. Those whose have already expired will (probably) just have to wait some more ....... |

Six Jeddah guys got theirs. Over a hundred still waiting. They went for the guys who had dying family members or who were scheduled for vacation.
I have not been on vacation for nine months. On the other hand, our TD took six weeks off. |
