Hi!

I've been given a Saudi telephone number to contact for an informal chat about working there.

However, calls to Saudi from Britain, via a BT line, cost 50-60p per minute Shocked

Do any UK expats know of a cheaper way to telephone Saudi?
I seem to recall you can buy cards that give you a set amount of time to call abroad that are much, MUCH cheaper than this Confused

Thanks for any help!

The international markets all sell calling cards. They can advise you about the best ones for use when calling KSA.

Presumably the number belongs to a worker there whose number they have given you to call so you can get an unofficial viewpoint.

If it belongs to the hirer, then call and ask him to call back. If the company is not prepared to do that you don't want to be working with them.

I don't know howwell skype works with Saudi. And of course it won't be that cheap.

Basically the rule is that the more Third World the country's telephone system the more you pay and the worse the reception. You can buy calling cards in the UK but Saudi will still be expensive compared to other locations. Most shops in the UK sell international calling cards.

Try the phonecard called 'TALK HOme' it costs 5 pounds, I have used it to SA and some other Arab countries and it was cheaper than BT line or NTL.
Also, go to the Somali or Indian shops, they are the expert in phone cards, and they will advice you about the best card for Saudi.

Did you try to use SkyPe, PC-to-Phone , is also very cheap compared to BT or NTL line.

BTW, Griff-James, is the marks on your body still there or are gone . Laughing Laughing

Good luck for your calls to SA.

or if it is s amobile you dial 0871 999 8080 and its 10p per minute to mobiles.

If we meet I'll take the time to show you the difference in meaning between a mark on the body and a mark in the body Wink

Making fun of that young lad who was tortured/ abused says a lot about you.
