I am curious. I have received a few different answers to my question, and I was wondering what all of you out there would say. What kind of photo does a prospective employer want to see? Head shot or body? Smile or no smile?

Passport type would do. They just want to make sure you're white.

IMO, in Latin America at least, a smiling head shot would be best.

Good...(sorry, Latoya simply came up first on google, oddly)

Not so good...

Terrible..

That last one looks like a typical english teacher (assuming he's drunk and passed out on his way home after going to the bar after work, and not dead) Laughing

If Photo #1 were attached to a CV, I'm afraid I'd find it difficult to be very picky about her TEFL qualifications, credentials, and experience.

The guy in the second photo looks kinda like one of my co-workers . . . on one of his better days.

Ya gotta admit that the flowers add sort of a nice touch to the third photo.

It's funny- we don't ask for photos as part of an application, but many people send them. (Our institutional position is that we don't care if you're white- as long as you can teach English really well! Very Happy )

When people send them, though, it always kills me when they use class photos...so I get an email saying "here's a photo of me, I'm third from the left," and I open the attachment, and find a photo containing 16 Korean nine-year-olds, with a six-foot white guy in the middle. Like I wouldn't have guessed who was the teacher...

I use one of my grad photos from university. It's professional (well-lit, nice background), it is further proof that my degree is legitimate, and I look very white and very cute. I only sent it with applications to European schools (never North American ones!)

Does anyone know if it's normal to send a picture with your resume in Mexico? Thanks!
