I lived and worked up there in the 70s and 80s,god it was a real dump in those days went for a return visit 2 years back ,what a difference ,the place has changed out of all regonition .All those old buildings down by the river have been turned into smart restaurants and nightclubs of one sort or another ,the place just buzzes all the time ,one of the best Northern cities for nightlife .Those Geordies work hard and play harder.

Yeah it was still there, but I think it was closed down for safety reasons ,I went up there during the school semester in feb and like you say the amount of people esp females who were out without coats or scarfs or even thick wooly tights or even polar necks was amazing, most of the girls were dressed for summer, too bombed to care I reckon .

The last time I was up there was when Malcolm (supermac) Macdonold was the local hero ,but every time the magpies got hammered some of his shop windows got smashed in ,lovely place .Whatever happened to him? I bet there are Gazza lookalikes on every street corner ,a place to stay away from .

I know loads of gay football fans.

Elton John is probably the most famous. Is this significant in any respects.

Come on!!!!
When in Rome....
This weekend Sariyer are playing Yalova at home in an important division 2B match.
Hit the Bogaz for a wonderful day out.
I spent 5 years watching Sariyer home and away, and whenever I'm back in Istanbul I still do.
Tell them Michael sent you!
