|
|
Since you're hardly likely to get within earshot of Pope Benedict while he's in Istanbul on Thursday the 30th of November, why not bring your class along instead to a performance of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, performed by English actor/teacher Michael Blankinson?
In English (2pm); Turkish reading (3pm); and again in English (4pm). Each 20 minute performance will be followed by an audience discussion.
The sermon will be performed at:
Karakedi Kltr Merkezi, İstiklal Caddesi, Bykparmakkapı Sokak, No: 8, Kat: 4, İstanbul. (Opposite Pandora Bookshop.)
(Since the language(Matthew 5-7; King James' Bible) can be hard to follow, the English performance is more suitable for Advanced students, and even then a pre-analysis of vocabulary is advised.) |

Hmmm, can't make that, but I and my class shall be partaking in some other catholic rituals including - the burning of scientific texts, the giving of safe houses to nazis in return for paintings, and of course, everyone's favourite, paedophilia. |

Honestly I didn't find this on a Rangers website.

What is a Catamite? Webster's dictionary defines catamite as "the youthful lover of an older man derived from the Latin name Catamus." Catamus was the first Catholic priest, who didn't even wait until the rock of Lord Jesus' tomb was rolled back to get a young boy spread eagle on a altar (a practice that resulted in the early church adopting the name "altar boy.") The first Pope was so impressed with Catamus' ability to bugger young altar boys while never losing his place in scripture during service, that he coined the name for the new church "Catholic," using Catamus' name and the activity for which Catamus had become notorious. The traditions establish by Catamus have become sacred rites of passage for all Catholic priests, often taking 40-50 years to perfect and master. What once was ostensibly a Christian Church has become little more than a excuse for grown men to wear dresses and bugger young boys with the so-called "church" offering the vocational perk to its priests of often relocating pedophiles to new parishes so that they may "sample some new flavors." |

well, a catamite spread thinly on toast doesn't appeal to me as much as marmite. |

That would be the Mount of Olives just outside the walls of old Jerusalem - identified in the Book of Zechariah as the place from which God will begin to redeem the dead at the end of days.
But the location where 'the Sermon on the Mount' was first delivered is presumed to have been on a mountainside at the north end of the Sea of Galilee, near Capernaum.
And Popeye/Popery beat the ship out of him. |

Yes, after ten days in police custody I was suddenly released and left the country as requested. Came back on a tourist visa.
Here's a children's play, 'The King's New Clothes', which I wrote while incarcerated. You can use it with your students if you like, but let me know if you do.

(But because of my disgusting name, you will not be able to open it from the link on this prudish site. Google it if you're interested)
As for 'The Sermon on the Mount' - I performed it today at the Kara Kedi before a small but appreciative audience. Shame the Pope couldn't make it, but I'm glad he's gone.. |
