Not me--just looked out of curiosity. (Dave's for me is a way to live vicariously in a number of exotic places I'll probably never visit--I mean, with four young kids, it's not like I'm going anywhere for awhile! )

Sure thing. Things to remember: you'll need bigger (and therefore more expensive) housing than most, food will be more expensive as well, and even the cheap daycare will seem a burden with three kids in it. However, with three kids at that salary, and assuming all three are under twelve, you'd actually qualify for (believe it or not) very generous government financial support (part of their program to increase the birthrate). This sum would be paid in addition to your salary--I believe every four months or so--at about 80,000 yen each time. It's called the 児童手当 (Jidou Teate)--have your wife look it up if you choose to return.
Best,
Taiki |

| I think 400,000/month is reasonable for a first job in japan. however if the op is on full japanese employment deal, he/she will find at least a third of his/her salary disappearing in deductions. this is not necessarily a bad thing. the op will maybe have proper health insurance on that deal, and unemployment insurance which allows him/her to get unemployment benefit in japan. on the other hand the op might be paying into the japanese pension scheme, which is not worth while for most foreigners, but under certain curcumstances i think it's possible to get a refund of those pension contributions. good luck to the op anyway. |

I'm not interested in HCT either. I am interested in that area, but HCT doesn't sound all that attractive to me. |
