And your physical appearance.
The interviewers are looking for people to represent thier opinion of what defines the particular contracting area. If the interviewers (or even one of them) decide that they want to show that their contracting area doesn't bias against women, then they will simply turn down males. If they want to show that they are highly multicultural, then they may not hire white people.
Once you are in Japan, the people you work for won't really care about where you are from unless they personally like your country (which usually means it's the US) or else you are from the sister city and that sister city is from elsewhere. |
