This board is pretty good for general info about Oman but does anyone know if there's a website that specifically caters to the expat community in Oman e.g. has second hand cars for sale, club details, restaurant reviews etc...

Also, I'm heading to Oman shortly with the strife. I'm not particularly worried for myself but slightly concerned with how my Korean wife (no anklebiters) will keep herself occupied while I am working. I'd appreciate it if someone could share their spouse's experience living in Oman.

Thanks.

Hello,
You don't actually say where in Oman you will be. However here are some that may fit your needs:

No strife in Oman... quiet, clean, and safe...

The Korean community is likely not large, but as long as your wife speaks decent English and isn't too shy, she should have little problem enjoying Oman.

Thanks for the tips, Aliskander- actually still don't know exactly where we'll be (just somewhere outside Muscat).

To VS: strife is strine or rhyming slang for wife (the full version being trouble and strife= wife). Thanks for the reassurance though.

Cheers.

Best to remember that only a small percentage of the readers here are c ockney speakers Cool And to be honest, I find that a truly insulting and sexist way to refer to one's wife.

Good Luck in Oman...

It is a tiny percentage who speak it. However alot of Brits do know alot of c.ockney slang..... or is that just me because I've been watching Eastenders for two decades.

btw VS if you are insulted by strife, don't ask what they call Americans Wink

I wonder when Eastenders will finish its episodes? Do you think it will last for other two decades?

Hey dmb... what one calls Americans wouldn't bother me... but insulting the wife does... Laughing

I have to say that I find the humor in c ockney speech to be rather lacking... neither terribly funny nor creative unless one is about 10 years old...

I have to agree VS, but I am Scottish.

007, Corrie has been running since the 60s so I don't see why it can't continue.

I reckon that Pauline leaves on the Christmas day special.

btw 007, on the Turkey forum we have about 40 pages on Eastenders. I think it is the second longest thread. Of course the longest one is mostly about football.

VS,

Somebody's touchy. I must say you are the first person I've ever met to be offended by that term- even some hardcore feminists I have worked with were amused by the term- but then again they had senses of humour. My wife certainly hasn't been insulted by me using the term from time to time. Thanks for your concern though.

By the way I didn't say it was c ockney slang -I said it was strine. There is a slight difference.
