Hello fellow teachers,
When do schools start posting jobs for summer camps? I am looking particularly for contracts in South America and China.
Can anyone shed some light? I would REALLY appreciate it!

That would be winter in South America, if you are talking about the summer time in the northern hemisphere.
I don't think I have ever seen summer jobs for South America on Dave's ESL cafe. There are summer jobs in China. You can apply to Global TEFL's summer camp. It is a bit disorganized but you do get paid what you are supposed to. John Zhou the man who recruits the teachers should be advertising soon. The pay is 800RMB for 4 weeks(I think). If you have any question please ask. Furthermore, you might want to try to do a summer camp in Korea for the month of July and see if you can do a camp with John Zhou in August. If you are a teacher or a student you could do a month in Korea and China. Korean camps usually pay $3000 US. A flight from the US should cost around $1200-1400. If you have any questions please send me a private message. |

You could also try New Times International which is a recruitment agency that recruits teachers for summer camps in China. I think that most camps are in Inner Mongolia. I might try out a camp in Inner Mongolia sometime.
I have been to China twice. |

That would depend on where in South America.
In Quito, where I live, we are definitely in SA, but schools follow the Northern Hemisphere school year. (In Quito, the seasons and weather are far too *beep*ed up to say what's winter, and what's summer. But school is September to June, give or take.)
Coastal Ecuador follows a January to November school year, which is more similar to some other places in South America. This makes it a real pain in the @ss for Ecuadorian parents to move. Ever. Mostly, it means kids repeat a year.
Look into more specific locations, and you'll get more info.
Best,
Justin |
