|
|
| REDGOO seemed to offer the most useful insider info, but then the scent seems to have gone cold. TIEC is still actively recruiting. Just wondering if it will be worth going to see how things are now? Married status contracts are being offered with the usual benefits. Is it worth the disruption to uproot wife and kids do you think? Any constructive comments welcomed. Thanks. |

The scent may have wafted a bit but is still there. I like to wait until I see how things pan out before I decide to inform people on boards, especially at this time when decisions are being made as to whether or not to come here.
First, for those who are considering employment at PMU some good things to consider.
1. We will be moving out of the dump of a compound that they initially put us in and into a compound completely owned by PMU. Should start to do this during the Eid break. The new compound is extremely nice and in some cases way too big if you are single. They are 3 bedroom, split level villas that may be actually expensive to cool in the summer months. PMU does not pay for electricity. The plan is that these villas will house everyone but in about 6 months they will relocate the singles to yet another compound as they feel the units are way too nice and too big for the singles.
2. With the arrival of new teachers (hopefully) the next semester will normalize. Currently, teachers have 4 and 5 hour classes that are horrible. That should change once new teachers arrive to a more civil 2 hour class.
Watch out for:
1. Changing your contract information once you arrive. They did it to all of us. Case in point- teaching hours. Many of us interviewed were stipulated 15 to 18 classroom contact hours. Once we got to the ME and had to sign the contract everything changed. The contract generally said you will work according to what the school needs. Well, at the beginning they said everyone will work 20 hours plus 5 office hours + 5 lab hours and that almost caused total anarchy. That was rescinded almost the day it was made but you get the idea that whatever they tell you won't necessarily happen. So, 20 hours are now the base norm. Everything above that is overtime. If TIEC or anyone else advertises that you are working less contact hours they are trying to pull a fast one.
ok -enough for now- more to come soon |
