A coupla people mentioned Pitchfork, but do ya trust 'em? Sometimes I feel like they are just trying too hard to be cool. I'd rather hear personal opinions from real people on this board who spent their own time or money getting their music, I just think they'll be more honest.

And am I the last person in the world who still buys CD's? Jesus, just doing this much typing has made me tired again, I can't wait 'til I feel genki again...

Hey, I totally agree with your summation of Pitchfork. Those guys are a bunch of opinionated hyper trendoids who have slagged a few of my fav albums.

That said, point me to published a music critic who isn't!

However, the PF crew do a good job of reviewing a substantial amount of music from a fairly wide range of genres (not perfect and definitely within limits) and bringing it all together in one place. There were at least 15 CDs on that list I hadn't even heard of!

As for buying CDs? I do, I'm going shopping and buying up the Jesu back catalogue - Japanese editions with bonus tracks!

Whoever recommended the Knife, I've heard a lot about them from a friend of mine in New York, and she's supposed to send me a mix CD of their stuff. It's fun, happy Euro-trash dance music, right?

They have 3 full lengths and a movie sound track, so there are a variety of sounds, but they are usually more of a dark fairly minimal electronic group (brother and sister). The vocalist is amazing.

Sounds good. If my friend drags her ass makin' me a mix CD, which of the Knife's CD's would you recommend I buy first?

Deep Cuts, Silent Shout, The Knife. Silent Shout, the newer one, is a bit darker, especially the second half. All are great though.
