Like some kind of Afghan Loyal Jirga featuring MamaOaxaca, Sinead O'Connor, and AMLO...okay, the last two won't be there....they are both missing and presumed washed-up.

Location: somewhere near Reforma and Insurgentes - I'm thinking cantina.
Time: evening

This is not one to miss...

I put an invite in with AMLO, his people will contact my people to let me know if he can make it.

Restration appears to be still open for the Best of British that Friday, Saturday, if any of you want to attend.

Guy,
I used to have a good friend who worked at/lived in the Casa de Los Amigos, he took me to a very quaint place in the neighborhood that hadn't been remodled in at least 5 decades, of course this was in the last century (1999) so who knows if it's still open, and still as charming. I seem to remember the doors opening on to that little square by the Oxford. There was also a place across the street from the Fronton Area? Stadium? Court? Thingamagig? What ever you call that huge hunk of a building. Then there is a bar at the Fridmont hotel which keeps it's light dim, allowing you to squint and call it vintage rather than shabby. Or there is/was an Argentine Parilla place across from the ISSTE theatre which I remember as have good eats, but terrible ambiance...

I'll go out with the camera this weekend and take pictures of places. Then we can vote.

AMLO has a late-night tv show to worry about these days, but maybe he'd like to come by and hoist a few with us. I'd like to have some words with him regarding a certain pothole in the city

Thelmadatter and I try to have one about every month. In fact, we're having a quiet evening at a cafe in the centro historico tomorrow eve (anyone who wants to come can PM me for directions).

Name a weekend you'll be here in DF and we can organize another...

I drove by in a taxi once or twice but have been way too busy in TEFL courses to get photos. I promise, I promise, I promise, pictures are coming soon. It looks like there are quite a few choices of cantina anyway.

While this thread is at the top, we're going to Mama Rumba in colonia Roma this Saturday around 9 PM for a late night out of live Cuban music, dancing, and the finest mojitos outside of Havana. PM me if you want to come.

Ok, the promised photos are coming tomorrow. For those in the know, there is no way I can repeat last Saturday's performance...and I certainly hope thelmadatter has learned her lesson. Wink No one goes rum bottle for rum bottle with this Canuck and remains conscious. Twisted Evil
