Sorry -question for the ladies- but just packing for my year in japan, whilst panicking over whether i can pack enough clothes for a year so i dont worry about buying large all the time! and buying my deodorant in bulk as advised - I wondered ladies, can you tell me, is it easy buying tampons and sanitary items over there?
When i was in South America it was a bit hard to get hold of good tampons...
Sorry guys!

You can buy tampons but I always got them from home because I couldn't find ones I liked in Japan. And since they are so small and light you can easiliy take enough to last you a year without adding much size or weight to your luggage. It depends a bit on where you are coming from, what you are used to and whether you like the applicator kind or not. It seemed to me that most of the ones in Japan were the applicator variety. |

I's say you'll be okay with a package or two just until you get used to finding them here. They're sold in the drugstores and maybe supermarkets. I found them fine and think you'd be better off to use the suitcase space for extra clothes, which are almost impossible to find here. Oh yes, and extra bras, and sports bras. The ones here are terrible and yours from home will soon stretch out of shape with the heat and humidity and washers which are hard on them. |

bras? that depends. if you have small boobs and like push-up bras you'll be in heaven.
tampons -- mostly the applicator type. sanitary pads -- awesome. wide variety and quite cheap. |

Mr. Sweetpea,
You've given women advice on pregnancy, any thoughts on this thread? |

If you prefer OB style tampons they are hard to find here. If you like Tampax style, then they are everywhere. |
