I can tell you I once visited (name of city)There were 3 or 4 or 5 schools out in the middle of nowhere. the bus ride was about 1 hour and there was absolutely nothing in this university cluster - no fast foods, no real supermarkets, no wal marts - zilch [...] The only bright spot was the beautiful mountains.

Must have been hell Jeff. Must have been hell.

A whole afternoon you were meant to spend there in the beautiful mountains without a walmart you say?

No wonder you hightailed it.

Don't know if you've already had to make up your mind, but definitely go for Wuxi. Close to Shanghai, so you can go there for a weekend out. It has a nice little character of its own, the people are not so jaded about foreigners and teachers probably. This is important: The salary is actually pretty good for Wuxi, but in Shanghai 8000 isn't very much. And Pudong isn't great unless you've been here for years and are homesick. Nanjing is great, but you don't want to be stuck in university city, a brand new development way out of town. The off-campus housing and being downtown sound great. Wuxi hands down.

Wuxi is not my cup of tea no matter how good the university camp is. Small city, yes, but no less soulless than Pudong!

I realise Wuxi may not be your cup of tea but comparing it to Pudong...nonsensical!
