When I did, the area that really was stressful for me to live in was on the way to Ogori.
Ogori's south of Fukuoka, beyond Hakata//Kasuga/Dazaifu/Chikushino etc.
Where I lived was near the Prefecture of Saga though not in Saga. When I moved it was to the Nishijin area and WAS that a relief! Ordinary people, ordinary families. A great landlord of my apato building, people who had more sense than to want to give their money to tyrannical 'kumi.'
I have heard too many stories first hand when I was in Kyushu about the fact that my experiences with the 50 years plus brigade of women was not unusual, especially in inaka.
Itoshima, hey! That's a beautiful place, my husband and I and my friends used to go camping there although when we went biking we found that drivers are very, very careless both in broad daylight and at night-time in those parts. Take care! |

What's a "kumi" ?
re: 50-years-plus ladies:
Amen to that. Some of'em are nice old ladies, but too danged many of them are rude beyond belief, and fearless. In the most public way, they'll point out and ridicule the flaws of everyone around them. |
