Hi. I am not sure if this is the correct place to post this question. I am a speech-language pathologist who has training in accent modification. Does anyone have information/suggestions on how I could find this type of work in Asia. I am particulary interested in Japan, China and Thailand.

Thanks for your help,
Rhonda

Just brainstorming . . . in those countries consider call centers (China, prob not Japan - don't hear of many in Thailand), international hospitals where local staff may speak so heavily accented that it hinders good communication (many have internal call centers as well), possibly drama or broadcasting programs at universities, perhaps English language television programs . . .

I know Korea (I know it is not on your list) has a university that is solely for broadcast journalism - those type schools in other countries probably do exist but would take some research to find. BUT - those are often the best jobs anyway - the ones that are bit off the beaten path.

I bet other people will have ideas too.

You have a specialized skill and unless you actively seek a place to use it you may get trapped as a generic English teacher. Don't let that happen. Just my opinion.

Look at call centers in India. They'd be all over your sort of expertise.
Good salaries and benefits in those kind of jobs.
I did it for a year in Bangalore.
