Wow, Japan! So civilized. It's so great to work as a JET or at Nova.

Right? Step one in opening your eyes, a great topic for class today:

I am tempted to go on and on about how disgusting, cruel, etc., etc., those photos and the actions depicted in them are (in keeping with my lovey-dovey California vegan self! Very Happy ), but I suppose that would be culturally insensitive of me.

I think regardless of one's opinion on the issue, those activists did a damn good job of getting their point across.

I'm sorry, but that water looked like it was doctored using some kind of photo editing program.

Yeah, it did look a weeeeee bit too red, but... gets the point across, no? In a grisly way. Made my stomach churn, it did, even if it was doctored.

No kidding. I've seen Kool-Aid look more natural. The whaling I knew about. Once I read about the dolphin-ing on a different site without the Kool-Aid edtion of photoshop, I'll dislike that too.

I did try to talk about whaling in one class (a student had just come back from a trip that included eating whale.) Didn't interest my students if I recall.

No, I'll bet it's bonafide blood. It looks absolutely identical to regular hunting sessions carried out in the Faroe Islands north of Britain.

Check out these links if you're not eating lunch

Similar colour no?

Anyway, what's the issue here? Killing dolphins etc or how it's done?
It bemuses me that humans have pretty much found humane (sic) ways of killing everything except ourselves. But, perhaps that's next up Rolling Eyes
