Hi guys, i'm hoping someone could enlighten me here.
I only have a 3 year degree so i'll be getting a WHV for my one year stint in japan. However as you know when applying for one you need proof of return ticket.
I just went online and looked at price examples, a round-trip ticket, 10 months apart is around 4 grand USD.
I'm hoping someone who went over on a WHV could tell me what they did and what they paid for airfare from Canada or the US (anyone who flew from toronto would be apprecaited)
This could seriously hamper my relocation if I can't figure out these insane airfare prices.
PS i tried to use the search funtion but the screen came back completely blank so i'm not sure what is wrong there. |

wow.. 4 grand???
the most you can stay is 8 months with a return ticket... u can eventually change that date later on but u pay a fee.. not too much really.
i got my plane ticket for $1100CND .. with return...
I'm leaving next week and my return is in november... for me to extend my stay ... i only have to pay $100
i'm flying united to japan.
keep searching.. ask travel agents or call specific airlines.. u might get a better deal. |

How do you go about extending your stay? |

I found this crazy cheap discount flyer company. I was worried at first that it wasnt real but we got our tickets and had no troubles. There were round trip tickets for $600 but I wanted to fly Singapore Air so we paid $1000, this is more but I thought it was worth it for Singapore Air. Dont pay $4000, there are alot of cheap tickets out there you just have to find them, I spend many many days on the computer looking for cheap tickets because the first hits I got were way to expensive. So if you want me to give you the info to the company private message me. |

I'm going on April 30th with a WHV. I paid the same amount as the person who said they were flying via United for $1100. I think my total price for a round trip was $1280-something as I included travel insurance as well. The travel insurance also covers what I might pay if I have to change my departure date or whatever.
However, that was my price for a student fare, so I'm not sure if anything other than student fare would be more expensive.
Try looking through travel-cuts (travelcuts.com) or some service like that; they usually have access to special rates. |
