| There's nowt wrong with a bit of Turkish iin the classroom. When I speak low levels I'll allow Turkish and will even speak a bit myself on the condition that they don't speak any Turkish at all during the "Just English" time. |

Regardless of the language, I have found that you get better results using English only with the motivated students, and that it's better to talk to the motivationally challenged in their native language, saving you the hassle of becoming the staight man to a classroom of comedians whose ongoing joke is you.
Of course it goes without saying that this can backfire if your lack of ability in their language is even funnier to them than the idea of learning English is. |

| Despite the fact my place has speaking tests as part of the proficiency as well as self study centers where the emphasis is on the English language ,the casual visitor would not know it was an English medium place of learning,to the op try to avoid using it ,just makes a bad situation worse . |

Is it really an English medium place of learning?
The private uni I worked at claimed to be but in reality once the customer got into the degree programmes the language of instruction was Turkish partly because of the poor English of the customers but also because of the poor English of some of the lecturers. |

| I don't deny any of that .Some teachers are part of the problem ,not the solution, I'm thinking native speakers with Turkish partners are the worst for that. But some of the Turkish teachers who come into my office have yet to utter a sentence in English in my presence . I think that is endemic in any Turkish school/uni/ etc . |
