The Georgians are famous for their hospitality and openess-don't show interest in their women though, unless of course you have serious intentions!Unfortunately their country was ruined by a civil war in the early 1990's and has never really been right since. They just seem to get by with varying degrees of instability and are now pro-western, rather than pro Russian! The biggest problems there are corruption and crime and much as I hate to say it a British e.f.l. Teacher was mysteriously murdered in Tbilisi a couple of years ago and as far as I know the case has never been solved!Although Tbilisi is relatively 'normal' by their standards at the moment,I cannot honestly recommend anyone to go and live and work there unless perhaps they find a job with a foreign company on an ex-pat compound in somhwhere like Supsa on the Black Sea.
Pity, because it's a lovely country!
P.S. this advice comes from the many Georgians who are now resident here in Cyprus! |

There is a Georgian channel on the TV here in Tallinn and it always shows good movies that are dubbed over in the worst possible way. Basically, a man who does not shift intonation nor give a hint of acting. Furthermore, the orginal audio is not turned down all the way, so you hear his s**tty dubwork over the English-speaking actors.
This TV channel is presumably one of their premier channels, since it the "face" of their country, and broadcast internationally.
This fact alone should discourage you from going there. |
