Confused

I need to phone a number in Saudi.

The number I've been given is 11 digits long, and starts with 966.

However, I understand you have to prefix a telephone number with the code for Saudi - (00966).

Does the 11 digit number include the prefix 00966 but with the 0 omitted by accident, or do I have to add 00966 to the 11 digit number?

I can't get through!

It seems you were given a fixed number not a mobile one.

Fixed number in Saudi is 11 digits including 966 wihout 0 (for city code)
for example Jeddah number is: 00966 2XXXXXXX
(Saudi Airlines in Jeddah: 00966 26323333)

MOBILE NUMBER (12 DIGITS): 00966 XXXXXXXXX
You have to omit the 0 as well for the mobile code number (e.g 50 instead of 050).
e.g: 00966 503642568

Thanks for the reply!

However, I'm still confused. Shocked

To contact Saudi successfully do I have to only use the 11 digit number *or* do I have to put the (00633) number in front of it?

If you are calling any international number you need to dial the international code (which on mobiles can be done dialling the +, but from fixed lines will depend on where you are calling from), and then the country code

So if you are dialling from the UK or North Korea you will start by dialling 00 966
From the US you will dial 011 966
From South Africa you will dial 09 966
From South Korea you will dial 001 966

Here is a list of all international country codes (if you want to call the country from outside) and all international prefixes (if you are in the country and want to call abroad).
http://www.multilingualbooks.com/countrycodes.html

The next thing you do is take of the initial zero before the town code if you have been given the number with that initial zero.

For example 011 966 3 860 4000

If you have a mobile number then there will be one extra number. That is to say nine numbers after the country code instead of eight.
For example 011 966 505 123 456
