According to the report from our man in Istanbul, Interlang now has become ET, and the computers from the computer room of the said school have mysteriously dissappeared. "This reminds me of a 'science' fiction film I saw many years ago" said one of the disgruntled teachers at ET, previously called Interlang. Asked which film it reminds him, the teacher replied: "I think they freeze this guy, a cop, (Slvester Stallone) and defrost him after a thousand years, it could be called Demolition Man, and anyway when he wakes up in a different world - post-Bush and post-Shwarzenneger, the latter also becomes US president - he finds out that all restaurants are called Pizza Hut!

Does this mean the previously named 'Interlang' will begin using the detested ET coursebook?

Yes, Interlang/ET will use the book. But some people, I hear, don't detest it.

I walked past the former 'Interlang' institute in Istiklal Cadessi this chilly evening. They've changed the sign. It says 'ENGLISH TIME' in big silver stick-out letters over the (rather small) entrance.

A cold young Turkish man in suit and tie stood grimly wagging an ET brochure at the disinterested passers-by in a half-hearted attempt to attract attention. I stopped and asked a few questions.

Basically, he couldn't speak English. What kind of an advertisement is that?

Runeman has a point. And it is not only ET. I get leaflets thrust in my face every day(Usually on the way to the metro) asking me if I want to learn English. A few times I have said "No, I am a teacher." This is followed by "do you want a job"

I once saw a bloke take one of the leaflets, rip it up, throw it in the guys face and ask' got a problem?'
the answer?
"discount before date X" these leafleteers are robots
Not ET btw

Do I contradict myself? Very well then, I contradict myself. (I am large, I contain multitudes) - Whitman

Forgive me for asking, but are you a blonde?

Makes you proud to be in this profession, does it not? I would rather have a chip van.

What they don't tell you on the leaflets however that ET is just a money laundering operation for the Taliban and that they all the DOS's are on crack cocaine.
