(apologies for not posting this under the Korea forum - due to some sort of glitch, I can never log on to that part of the site!)
This may be a weird question, but I have been browsing the forums for many months now and haven't found anything related. Having never traveled to Asia, I am curious...
I am drawn toward teaching in China for the opportunity to learn the language. I am drawn toward Japan for its culinary opportunities. South Korea appealed due to the opportunity to experience the temples, and also to abolish my student debt.
My question is -- would I be able to purchase a variety of Japanese food items in South Korea? I am not very fond of Korean food, and am basically wondering if I would be able to cook according to a Japanese diet while living in South Korea.
Again, it may be a silly question as the countries are in such proximity, but I'm not sure, and would rather not assume. |

yeah thanks for that
No actually I was referring to the particular seasonings and sauces, etc. I definitely require things in bottles. As well mirin, sake, miso, etc.
Are these common grocery store items? Not too worried because I was able to find all of the above in Africa this past year, so I'm sure South Korea should be a cinch. |

I was being a smartass again...
BUT: you have already guessed the answer to your query: you will find everything that you need in Korean markets unless you are in a very isolated area. I lived in a smaller city in Korea years ago and had access to international foods/sauces/condiments/etc. |

I assume Muji has stores in Korea, it seem sto be everywhere else - here in Taiwan they sell a lot of Japanese food stuffs. Miso, soup, snacks etc. More expensive than a grocery store though.
There's Japanese food readily available in Taiwan, I'm sure you'll have no problems in Korea. |
