|
|
Hello all...This is my first post in the forum.
I'm thinking of going to China to work with EF...I'd like any feedback from people who have experince working with EF China.
Someone working for them in Changchun said that it isn't a very good organisation, and that communication etc is far less than you would expect. Maybe you've had a "good" experience working with EF...please tell. Also, has anyone had "bad" experiences with their EF China school management terminating the contract and requiring repayment of airfares, rent, etc?
I have actually spent 9 months teaching in Daqing and Harbin from 2002-2003, but returned to Australia to do the CELTA course. I plan to attempt China again early 2004. I am interested in Qingdao, Suzhou, Dalian....and more.
I know that each school is a franchise, so therefore each would have it's own management etc, but any and all comments welcomed this way...bring it on...vjk |

I have no personal experience with EF, but I was put in the picture of what's going on in various branches by various disgruntled pals.
SOme work you 40 hours a week. For the same pay that others work you 25 lessons a week! Alright, they won't ask you to teach 40 lessons, but you will spend 15 office hours in their premises, in your Sunday best (no shorts, no T-shirts).
One got an offer of part-time (rare), but was forbidden from working elsewhere concurrently. In addition, he was supposed to sign a contract with a clause that banned him from working for a competitor in the same place for one year after completing his job. |

I haven't worked there myself either, but I've had many friends who have. The horror stories will literally curl your hair. Abusive scheduling, unpaid overtime, inept management, bad curricula/support, and so on.
As a general rule the Chain English Mills such as EF SSSUUUUUUUUCCCK. Don't go there.
